Though the second round has not officially finished yet (one set to go in the very consequential Falla-Benneteau match), the third is well underway. So, let's recap the action so far.
A couple of my predictions have already come true, with James Blake and David Nalbandian being upset yesterday by Ernest Gulbis and Jeremy Chardy respectively. Almagro is already up a break on Murray early in their third round match also, so we'll see how that works out.
Though I don't want to read too much into it, Roger Federer has already dropped a set in this tournament, adding to the misfortunes he's had this year. That said he still has a relatively clear path all the way to the finals, and I'd be very surprised if he didn't make it their for the third year in a row. Everything has been smooth sailing for Nadal and Djokovic so far.
The best match of the third round figures to be the Almagro-Murray show that is on display right now, though the Youzhny-Verdasco battle might be something to watch as well. Watch out for Monfils vs. Davydenko next round too, if all goes well.
